PIXIL Product Line in a Nutshell

The PIXIL product line includes two main components: PIXIL Thin Client, which provides the operating environment on the desktop, and PIXIL Configuration Server, which is used to manage the thin clients and provide network boot image support.

PIXIL Thin Client is a low-cost software solution available on Dell Optiplex PC hardware, allowing thin client access to applications running on Windows servers, UNIX/Linux, and IBM mainframe and midrange systems.

PIXIL Configuration Server provides a pre-configured SUSE Linux or Microsoft Windows-based PXE network boot server for PIXIL Thin Client PCs.

As shown on the diagrams in the PIXIL Configuration Server data sheet, the PIXIL Thin Client environment consists of low-cost, small-resource PCs attached to a company intranet, and managed and booted from a Windows or Linux-based boot server.  This unique thin client environment allows the speed, flexibility and low-cost of PC hardware to be used on the desktop, rather than dedicated, proprietary hardware.  Here's a one-page overview of PIXIL's benefits.

Ingram SKUs

PIXIL is available for new Dell OptiPlex PCs directly from Dell.  For already-deployed Dell systems, PIXIL may be ordered from Ingram Micro.  We have created several options including a basic thin client with one year maintenance & support (SKU F054321) and a three year bundle (F06934). Terminal emulation is also available (F05435) and the three year bundle (F06038). Also, PIXIL Thin Client can be evaluated easily by ordering a USB flash-key based boot, so there's no need to setup a network boot server (E68250).  A complete list of Ingram SKUs is available in spreadsheet format.

Call or email Century Software at (801)268-3088 to receive  the complete Ingram SKU list,  order a flash boot key, or help with the Dell ordering process.

Why Buy PIXIL?

PIXIL's Competitive Advantages

PIXIL is Ideal For

Dell chooses PIXIL Thin Client

Dell has chosen Century’s PIXIL Thin Client software as their Thin Client solution of choice, while previously providing only Wyse Thin Clients. PIXIL Thin Client is a total solution, requiring no local client storage, running on Dell PC hardware that replaces standalone thin client terminals with faster hardware, lower cost, and more capabilities.  This allows thin client access to shared applications running on Windows servers, UNIX/Linux, IBM mainframe and midrange systems.

Dell has chosen to emphasize PIXIL because of its robust features and Century’s long standing quality reputation in the terminal emulation and host access market.  Century’s PIXIL Thin Client delivers a powerful and flexible Linux based architecture that leverages the benefits of server-based computing, increased security, and lowered costs.
